Dear FunPark fans,
I'm so happy to tell you that our golden treasure has finally arrived! This year, for the very first time, we have our own, real Playmobil honey. I was able to secure 475 jars of the delicious honey for you, which are now exclusively available at the PLAYMOBIL-FunPark in Zirndorf.
But this would not have been possible without our ‘Playmobil bees’: For the liquid gold, my busy employees had to fly to the unimaginable number of over 700 million blossoms. Quite impressive, isn't it? As pollinators, these little insects in fact make a really important contribution to our ecosystem.
How we support bees
Did you know that the global bee population has fallen by more than half since 1950? For this reason, me and me team at the PLAYMOBIL-FunPark feel a special committment towards the endangered insects. In cooperation with beefuture, we were able to adopt and welcome the first bee colony in spring 2024. But you can do more than just watch the bees at work here. On our new bee adventure trail, you can also learn lots of interesting facts about these busy little creatures and how to protect them. Have you already visited the bee trail and got to know our bees?
In addition, four more bee colonies have been established on the green areas nearby the PLAYMOBIL-Hotel and the neighbouring administration building. Since then, experienced beekeepers have been looking after the Playmobil bees, ensuring that they are kept in a species-appropriate way. At regular intervals - approximately every fortnight during the summer - a beekeeper from beefuture has visited and inspected our bees.
And in late summer, the time had finally come: the first honey harvest was filled into jars. What an exciting moment!
Play area for children - habitat for animals and plants
Our 90,000 square metre park area is not only home to a Pirate Ship, Knight's Castle or unicorns for your next play adventure. It is also a valuable habitat - thanks to the many green areas, trees, shrubs and flowers. We plant preferably native shrubs and flowering plants so that our bees and other insects can find food and shelter. No pesticides are used in the maintenance of the green spaces and plants are treated with organic fertilisers. When realising new planted areas, we always pay attention to what our bees need and we are even planning to increase the number of beehives to up to 10 in the coming year.
So if you're as big a fan of the golden treat as I am, you can already look forward to the next honey harvest. But for now, our little Playmobees can take a well-deserved break over the winter, while I'll be back at the Winter Magic at the end of November with more fun and ice-skating action.
